6 Powerful Ways To Stay Honest With Your Actions & Goals!

by Kenny Lindsay

At times in life it can be difficult to be one hundred percent honest with ourselves when it comes to the actions we take. In a self development programme this occurs if you get ‘faked out’ and pretend to yourself that you’re taking the correct actions when you actually aren’t. In the following article there are many extremely good methods to make sure you’re not faking reality and are making great progress in all of the important areas of your life.

One of the most effective ways to know for sure if you’re making progress with your goals is to track it. Tracking can easily be done by making a chart so that you can have proof in front of your eyes which shows whether you’re actually doing what you should be doing. If you’ve committed to a home study course in order to learn some new skills and decide to study for 40 minutes everyday then you can make a chart, hang it up on your wall and then you’ll have accurate records in front of you everyday which show precisely what steps you’ve taken towards the goal.

It’s vitally important that you be truthful with yourself and don’t fake reality and the facts. Some experts in personal development advise the use of affirmations in order to get your actions to improve, however, it’s important not to mistake saying the affirmations for actually doing the actions necessary to produce the desired result. With or without affirmations, you’re ultimately going to have to take action to achieve the goals you desire.

The self development industry at its best is a wonderful source of inspiration and useful advice, however, at its worst it can lead to delusion and looking for miracles which aren’t going to happen. It’s important to evaluate the self development resources that you are using to improve your life and make sure they are full of solid principles that have worked for many people for many years and aren’t just the latest fads or hype designed to drain your wallet and leave you with nothing but dashed hopes.

Try and make an honest appraisal of the conditions you’re dealing with and the opportunites that are available. For example, if you are now considerably overweight then it would be an unrealistic target to fit in a size 10 dress within a month. However, if you set a goal to lose 20 pounds over the next 6 months and then set up a viable programme there could be a great chance of achieving success.

Another excellent way to ensure you stay on the right track is to find a buddy that is also into setting goals and doing powerful things with his/her life. If you can pair up and encourage each other to do better, as well as monitoring each others’ progress then it can be an extremely powerful influence on both people’s lives. It’s crucial in this type of partnership that you are honest with each other and do everything you can to stop the other person from slipping up.
